Day 28: Triacastela to Samos (10kms)

Today, we took a short walk to Samos, home to the oldest monastery in Western history.  It is a well-known Benedictine Monastery that is open to any one who would like to stay there for a minimum of 3 nights.  It is for those who are seeking a silent retreat from their daily life.  One joins in the meals and prayers of the monks who run the monastery.

The unpredictable weather of Galicia.

A common sight on the Camino.

Photo taken just a few minutes away from Samos.

Walking towards the supermarket to buy groceries after having settled into our albergue.

We took a 1-hour tour of the Monastery.  It is breath-taking.

The garden inside is very conducive to Ora et Labora (Pray and Work) the motto of the Benedictines.

Our usual picnic cuisine.
